We come face to face with our lives every day, from daybreak to darkness and beyond. Life is crammed with emotions, anticipations, bliss and cliche and such on which we have no choice but to accept and experience. Some of these events make our life happier, some fail to do so. We take these events as normal way of life and move on.
At end of the day as we retire to slumber, the mind travels to another space, to an untapped land, in the cosmos of dreams where we lose all commands on identity and settings. The unconscious mind which has the capability to note and transform similar and known symbols to extraordinary yet meaningful events comes into play. Dream has the potent of transposing minute vibes perceived in sleep, into intense sensations. Beautiful or appalling, every dream is personal and in its own way - extraordinary. They provide us the opportunity to move away from habitual stereotypes; concede us to caress those rims, play with those senses and feelings which we would not gamble in cognizance.
From scientific angle, dreams are formed by a series of emotions, images and sensations that come in the mind during some specific stages of sleep. Although the content and the very reason of dreams are not fully understood, they have been a topic of scientific speculation, as well as a subject of philosophical and religious interest. Sigmund Freud’s theory of dreams suggested that dreams were a representation of unconscious desires, thoughts and motivations and in his famous book The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud wrote that dreams are "...disguised fulfillment of repressed wishes."
To me dreams are a gateway to my unconscious. The events in dreams are mostly outside of ones control and that particular nature excites me the most. So when I wanted to document my dreams I went through the series of dreams which comes to me often or the ones I am able to recollect. These series of photographs are mostly taken in a closed room and I have used myself as the model since to me one can portray his/her emotion the best. There are some good dreams and there are many bad ones. I think and hope that although these dreams are highly personal but the still one would be able to find a common link with some of these, if not all. In a way these are my Netherworld Delusions.
